Students from schools all over New York state will be gathering on SUNDAY, DECEMBER 2nd to discuss the Real Food Movement, and more specifically: the future of Real Food New York. It will be an amazing opportunity for Columbia & Barnard students to collaborate with other schools about bringing this movement onto our campus. Ever wanted to see how a solar panel really works? Here's your chance! Come to Brooks Lounge (the 1st floor of the Barnard Quad dorm) anytime between 1 and 4pm to get hands-on time with a solar panel, enjoy a smoothie made by a bike-powered smoothie machine, learn about a campaign to get wind power on Columbia's campus, and watch short videos on alternative energy.

Powershift Report: Nov. 2-5, 2007, Washington D.C.

Columbia and Barnard students were among a group of 22 students who made the front page of the University of Maryland newspaper on November 5th. Why the fame? These brave 22 students all crammed into one UMD student’s dorm room for three cozy nights in order to attend Powershift 2007, the first youth summit to address climate change. The conference was a landmark event that brought together over 5,500 students for the largest gathering of youth to address the most pressing global issue facing our generation.  read more »
