Selection Criteria: CL Venture Program
Ventures must…
1. Fulfill the mission of Conscious Lifestyle, which is to “help students and schools to be more socially responsible.”
2. Work on both the individual and institutional levels, which means helping students to improve their lifestyles, and making school policies more socially responsible.
3. Be sustainable. A sustainable venture is a long-lasting organization with strong leadership, membership, and financial resources.
4. Be created, led, and managed by students.
5. Have a credible plan and budget.
6. Involve a strong team and an ally.
Applicants must …
1. Be full-time students at a high school or university in the U.S. or Canada.
2. Apply as teams of 2 or more students, with at least two grades represented.
3. Have leadership/volunteer experience.
4. Be able to work with an adult ally and other community leaders.
5. Articulate how their venture will benefit their community.
6. Commit to: maintaining frequent communication with Conscious Lifestyle, attending monthly conference-call workshops, and submitting 3- and 12-month evaluations.
7. Be passionate about social change and have entrepreneurial skills.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
• Only complete applications will be accepted.
• Applications must be submitted via email.
• Supplemental information (cover letter, pamphlets, pictures, etc.) will not be returned.
• The file name should correspond with the name of your venture (for example: ideatree.doc or projectpeace.pdf)
• Applications must be submitted by August 1, 2008, 5:00pm PST.
